Portraiture is a magical skill and gift to be shared. Some of us are blessed, and can draw or paint, others have only the desire. Wishing to create a represention of that special person or animal is so understandable, an attachment to keep the feeling alive and close to one’s heart.
For the past 40 years Ms. Marlene has been capturing memories as gifts for special people, using multiple photos as references. Some were for loved ones that has passed, other earlier generation that they never met in person.
Photos cannot emote the way a drawing or painting can. It is the focus on a subtle curve of a lip, the raised eye brow, slant of the head that brings life to the portrait that reconnects the viewer to the humanity of the posing person.
The portrait will be created in chalk pastels or oil paint, the best mediums for both humans and animals of all ages.

Ms. Marlene also offers portrait classes for adults who share the same interest. Bring some clear photos that bring back your feelings, and you will work under her guidence and learn the techniques. The classes are made by appointment, at a rate of $60.00 per hour.
