We have received so many requests for after school classes, and so, with a few changes we have created these unique, stimulating new classes!
ARTECH
Artisan Studio has been at its current location in Marlboro, NJ for 22 years, and we have been enjoying the many changes and challenges each decade brings to us. Changes in social, economical, educational and other categories that need to be addressed. We have noticed that most younger children have been more savvy than their siblings and parents were at these same ages due to the new technology they live with daily. With that acceleration comes immediate expectations of rewards or answers. Worse than that, a growing lack of patience, and reality, comes a lack of critical thinking, logical and tactile experiences.
They live on glass screens: cell phones, tablets, desktops. Where is the joy of mixing paints and markers on papers, experimentation of using watercolors to wash over a paper to create the first level of a painting. Pastels, charcoal, ink, oil paint… rulers, T squares, erasers, clay, papier mache… using our hands, not just thumbs dancing on glass. as we tightly hold our phones!
To accommodate these changes, we are offering classes that literally build skills of architectural drawings and 3D models, as they learn about perspective drawing, the heart of realism. Designing of homes, schools, office buildings, zoos, stores, cars, trains, busses, bridges.
Working with clay to create human animal and cartoon figures, paintings and other 3D subjects.
IMAGINATIONS & CREATIONS
Think of all the clothes and accessories your kids wear… they love it at first but then grow tired of it, usually in a short span of time. If they put an effort into what a cap and/or Tshirt might look like if they designed a great pic, emblem or logo, they will be proud of their own imaginations, and happy to wear them. They can choose to create a cap or hat with an original design or character.
Sneakers are great canvases for self expression, using white slip-ons or high tops. Students will learn the process of design, color theory, proportion and fabric choices. They will then be transferring their design to the real sneaker of their choice. They will feel the same for a cap or hat of their choice if they prefer! They will definitely enjoy the learning process and then have pride in their accomplishments!

Kids Spark STEM has a goal, to provide project based hands-on learning to their students through the use of arts and sciences. This strategy has proved to be very effective with the diverse learning needs for multilingual backgrounds, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia and other disabilities, reading and math skills. Dr. Carole (A.K.A. Ms. Carole) prioritizes skill development, critical thinking, analysis and integration of various subjects, and hand on activities.
This program is unique, each teacher creates the instructions to meet the needs of each child.

All instructors here at Artisan truly love to work with students of all ages and abilities. Many of our current students have been with us for more than a decade. We are also delighted to see our former students bring in their young childred! All of our teachers are parents, and some of us are grand parents; we teach with passion, kindness and patience. We have developed friendships with some of the entire families, and we thank them for their trust. We are grateful for that and believe we have been given our different talents to be passed along to others.

FRIDAY GROUP CLASSES FOR ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
OUR ORIGINAL, POST COVID OBJECTIVE WAS TO CREATE A WEEKLY SOCIAL GROUP WHERE WE ENCOURAGE AND START CONVERSATIONS IN AN INFORMAL SETTING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THESE OPPORTUNITIES AND SOCIAL SKILLS. THESE CLASSES WERE SO SUCCESSFUL, HAVE GROWN ORGANICALLY AND ARE VERY APPREICIATED AND ENCOURAGED BY THEIR DEVOTED AND CARING PARENTS. WE ARE SO PROUD OF THE PROGRESS THAT EACH AND EVERY SUDENT HAS ACCOMPLISHED.
WE RECOGNIZE THAT EACH STUDENT HAS THEIR OWN LIKES, DISLIKES AND LIMITATIONS. WE TAILOR EACH PROJECT TO FIT THE STUDENT’S ABILITIES AND INTERESTS, WHILE ALSO ENCOURAGING THEM TO TRY NEW EXPERIENCES. ENCOURAGEMENT, KINDNESS AND PATIENCE GOES A LONG WAY, THEY HAVE COME TOGETHER AS A TEAM TO HELP ONE ANOTHER. SHY AND NON-VERBAL STUDENTS JOIN IN, WITH CLAPPING HANDS AND HAPPY SQUEALS! TEACHERS BEAMING, IT’S A VERY HAPPY PLACE!
OUR CLASSES WILL OFFER 2 - 4 HOURS OF CREATIVITY THAT MATCH OUR STUDENTS’ INTERESTS AND AVAILABILITIES.
THEY HAVE GREATLY IMPROVED THEIR SKILLS, INCREASED THEIR SELF ESTEEM AND PRIDE IN THEIR ARTWORKS WHILE HAVING FUN.

*A personal note from Ms. Marlene, Owner/Instructor:
I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Dr. Carole, it is very important and personal. I have a twin brother who did not have the opportunity like this in the 1950’s through 60”s. There was no diagnosing, protection or understanding of ADHD and other disabilities. He suffered mental and physical harm as well as having no self esteem or confidence and as an adult, remembers the cruelties and still suffers from PTSD.
If there was understanding of various disabilities like the above, so may lives could have protected, respected and turned around…
