FRIDAY GROUP CLASSES FOR ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
OUR ORIGINAL, POST COVID OBJECTIVE WAS TO CREATE A WEEKLY SOCIAL GROUP WHERE WE ENCOURAGE AND START CONVERSATIONS IN AN INFORMAL SETTING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THESE OPPORTUNITIES AND SOCIAL SKILLS. THESE CLASSES WERE SO SUCCESSFUL, HAVE GROWN ORGANICLY AND ARE VERY APPREICIATED AND ENCOURAGED BY THEIR DEVOTED AND CARING PARENTS. WE ARE SO PROUD OF THE PROGRESS THAT EACH AND EVERY SUDENT HAS ACCOMPLISHED.
WE RECOGNIZE THAT EACH STUDENT HAS THEIR OWN LIKES, DISLIKES AND LIMITATIONS. WE TAILOR EACH PROJECT TO FIT THE STUDENT’S ABILITIES AND INTERESTS, WHILE ALSO ENCOURAGING THEM TO TRY NEW EXPERIENCES. ENCOURAGEMENT, KINDNESS AND PATIENCE GOES A LONG WAY, THEY HAVE COME TOGETHER AS A TEAM TO HELP ONE ANOTHER. SHY AND NON-VERBAL STUDENTS JOIN IN, WITH CLAPPING HANDS AND HAPPY SQUEALS! TEACHERS BEAMING, IT’S A VERY HAPPY PLACE!
OUR CLASSES WILL OFFER 2 - 4 HOURS OF CREATIVITY THAT MATCH OUR STUDENTS’ INTERESTS AND AVAILABILITIES.
THEY HAVE GREATLY IMPROVED THEIR SKILLS, INCREASED THEIR SELF ESTEEM AND PRIDE IN THEIR ARTWORKS WHILE HAVING FUN.
FRIDAYS 12:00- 2:00 PM, FOLLOWED BY 2:00 - 4:00 PM
CLASSES CAN BE BACK TO BACK (SEND A DRINK AND SNACK)
This was our Covid set up for students in each class: shields & air purifiers. So happy that it’s no longer needed!
